JOB ROLE: Estimator
LOCATION: Rayleigh, Essex
RATE: £65k - £80k + competitive package
START DATE: April 2026
About the Role:
RGM Recruitment Ltd is pleased to present an exciting opportunity for an Estimator to join a well established main contractor based in Essex. Our client delivers a wide range of projects across the Education, Residential, Healthcare, Leisure and Commercial sectors with projects ranging from £1m - £20m in value.
They are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team and take ownership of the tendering process from initial enquiry through to submission. This is a key role within the business, offering the opportunity to work on diverse and meaningful projects while contributing to their continued growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage tenders independently from receipt to final submission
- Analyse drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and pricing strategies
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations
- Identify value engineering opportunities and risk factors
- Contribute to and support the preparation of written tender submissions and quality responses
- Work closely with Directors and pre-construction team to develop winning bids
- Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings as required
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Estimator within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor environment
- Demonstrable experience managing tenders independently
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Experience contributing to written tender responses (quality submissions)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Proactive, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team
