JOB ROLE: Mechanical Supervisor
LOCATION: Guildford, Surrey
RATE: £220/day - £270/day
START DATE: September 2026
About the Role:
RGM Recruitment Ltd is excited to present an opportunity for a Mechanical Supervisor to supervise all mechanical building services installations on a residential development, ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, within budget and to the required quality standards. The Mechanical Supervisor will oversee subcontractors and operatives involved in heating, ventilation, domestic water, drainage, sprinkler and associated mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:

Supervise mechanical subcontractors and direct labour

Ensure works are installed in accordance with approved drawings and specifications

Coordinate activities with electrical, architectural and structural teams
-
Monitor daily progress and labour productivity
-
Report programme risks and solutions to the project team

Conduct routine inspections of mechanical installations
-
Ensure compliance with project specifications, manufacturers requirements and industry standards
-
Monitor workmanship standards across all mechanical systems
-
Record and track quality inspections
-
Assist with internal and external audits
-
Undertake mechanical snagging inspections
-
Prepare and manage defect schedules
-
Coordinate the correction of defects with subcontractors
-
Verify all remedial works have been completed satisfactorily
-
Support client demonstrations and handover inspections
-
Survey and quantify materials required for installation works
-
Verify material deliveries and ensure compliance with specifications
-
Monitor stock levels and forecast future requirements
-
Identify procurement risks and advise the project team
-
Ensure materials are stored correctly and protected from damage
-
Coordinate pressure testing, flushing, water treatment and commissioning activities
-
Ensure commissioning documentation is completed and maintained
-
Review test results and rectify issues where necessary

Assist commissioning managers and consultants during witness testing
-
Support preparation of O&M manuals and handover documentation
Requirements:

NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Services Installation or equivalent
-
SSSTS or SMSTS desirable
-
CSCS Supervisor Card
-
Experience supervising residential MEP projects

Knowledge of HVAC, domestic water, drainage and sprinkler systems

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

Strong organisational and communication skills
