JOB ROLE: Non Working Supervisor
LOCATION: Pulborough, West Sussex
RATE: £220/day
START DATE: September 2026
About the Role:
RGM Recruitment Ltd is excited to present an opportunity for an experienced Non-Working Supervisor to join an established timber frame subcontractor working on a large scale new build residential development. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising timber frame installation activities on site, coordinating the workforce and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality and programme standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate timber frame installation works across a new build residential development
- Manage and oversee site-based timber frame operatives, ensuring productivity and workmanship meet project requirements
- Act as the main point of contact between the timber frame subcontractor, site management team and other trades
- Allocate daily tasks and coordinate labour to ensure works remain aligned with the construction programme
- Monitor progress against programme and identify any potential delays or issues at an early stage
- Ensure timber frame structures are erected in accordance with drawings, specifications, manufacturer requirements and agreed construction methodology
- Carry out regular quality inspections of timber frame installation, identifying defects and ensuring remedial works are completed promptly
- Coordinate deliveries of timber frame materials and ensure materials are available when required
- Liaise with the main contractor regarding site access, sequencing, crane operations, deliveries and work areas
- Ensure operatives are working safely and in accordance with RAMS, site rules and relevant health & safety legislation
- Conduct regular toolbox talks, briefings and daily coordination with the workforce
- Monitor housekeeping and ensure work areas are maintained to a safe and organised standard
- Coordinate timber frame works with follow-on trades, including roofing, brickwork, cladding, M&E and internal trades
- Assist with resolving technical and construction issues arising during the timber frame installation process
- Ensure temporary works, bracing and stability measures are correctly implemented throughout the erection process
- Monitor plant, tools and equipment to ensure they are suitable, safe and properly maintained
- Record daily progress, labour levels, deliveries and any site issues
- Work closely with the Project Manager/Site Manager to ensure programme, quality and commercial targets are achieved
- Attend site meetings and provide regular progress updates to the subcontractor's management team
- Support snagging, inspection and handover activities, ensuring completed timber frame works are ready for follow-on trades
- Maintain strong working relationships with the main contractor, site management and wider project team
Requirements:
- Up-to-date CITB qualifications, including CSCS Card, SMSTS and First Aid at Work
- Previous experience supervising timber frame installation on residential developments
- Strong knowledge of timber frame construction methods and sequencing
- Experience working for a timber frame subcontractor or specialist contractor
- Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications and RAMS
- Strong awareness of health & safety requirements within a construction environment
- Confident managing and coordinating site operatives
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively alongside main contractor site teams and other subcontractors
