JOB ROLE: Operations & Maintenance Manager
LOCATION: West Malling, Kent
SALARY: £40k - £55k + competitive package
START DATE: April 2026
About the Role:
RGM Recruitment Ltd is excited to present an opportunity for an Operations & Maintenance Manager working with a specialist in renewable energy, electric vehicle charging and ESG solutions for the new build construction and retrofit sectors. They provide end-to-end solutions, ensuring their clients meet their sustainability and planning targets through innovative carbon reduction initiatives.
They are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations & Maintenance Manager to lead their Operations & Maintenance division, covering Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs), Solar PV systems, EV charging infrastructure and associated monitoring and back office functions. This office based role will be central to developing and managing their O&M operations ensuring all planned and reactive works are delivered efficiently, safely and in line with client expectations. The role will also play a key part in building and growing the internal O&M team and managing a network of external service engineers nationwide.
Key Responsibilities:
Planned & Reactive Maintenance
- Oversee all planned servicing and reactive maintenance for ASHP and Solar PV systems.
- Coordinate engineer attendance, parts logistics and client communications.
- Ensure all works are completed to the highest standard, within SLA and compliance requirements.
Monitoring & System Performance
- Manage monitoring platforms for Solar PV and ASHP systems, ensuring consistent uptime and performance.
- Identify underperforming systems, diagnose issues and coordinate corrective actions.
- Produce monthly reporting on system performance and service KPIs.
EV Charging & Back Office Management
- Oversee the EV charging back-office platform, ensuring all chargers are live, monitored and supported.
- Handle user management, remote diagnostics and escalation processes.
- Work with the projects and technical teams to ensure smooth transition from installation to ongoing maintenance.
Team Development & Leadership
- Build and manage a growing team of internal service coordinators and engineers.
- Recruit, onboard and manage a network of approved external subcontractors.
- Implement training and quality assurance processes to maintain consistency and technical standards.
- Develop a scalable team structure aligned with future O&M growth plans.
Operational Management
- Develop and improve O&M workflows, service procedures and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with MCS, NICEIC and internal quality and safety standards.
- Drive efficiency across scheduling, reporting and communication between departments.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting for the O&M division.
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing O&M operations within the renewable energy or building services sector (Solar PV, ASHPs, or EV).
- Working knowledge of monitoring platforms (SolarEdge, SolisCloud, myEnergi or equivalent).
- Strong organisational and leadership skills with experience managing both internal and external teams.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Strong understanding of planned maintenance, reactive response and client service workflows.
- IT-literate with CRM or job management systems experience (e.g., simPRO, ServiceM8, or similar).
- Technical background or qualifications in electrical, renewable or mechanical systems is desirable.
- Experience in developing or scaling a service team is desirable.
- Familiarity with ISO standards, MCS or NICEIC processes is desirable.
