Pipefitter / Welder – CPV DN100 Steel Pipework
LOCATION: Mytchett, Surrey
JOB TYPE: Temporary
DURATION: 1 month
START DATE: 02/11/2026
RATE: £25.00 ph
Job Overview
We have an upcoming project requiring an experienced Pipefitter / Welder to carry out installation and welding works to the main flow and return pipework.
The project involves the installation of approximately 336 metres of CPV DN100 steel pipework, primarily consisting of straight runs, with connections and tee fittings serving six separate buildings.
The successful candidate will be responsible for pipe preparation, fitting, alignment and welding of the pipework, ensuring all works are completed to the required project specifications, relevant welding standards and site requirements.
Project Scope
The approximate scope of works includes:
-
Main flow and return pipework: approximately 336m in total.
-
Pipework specification: CPV DN100 steel.
-
Pipe supplied in 6-metre lengths, requiring welded couplings at each 6m joint.
-
The majority of the installation will consist of straight pipe runs.
-
The main flow and return pipework will spur off into 6 separate buildings.
-
Each building will require welded tee fittings/connections from the main pipework.
-
No particularly complex pipework arrangements are anticipated.
-
The works will predominantly consist of straight runs, welded joints, tees and associated connections.
-
All pipework will be installed externally at low level and in the ground.
Key Responsibilities
-
Carry out pipefitting and welding to the main flow and return pipework.
-
Fit, align and prepare CPV DN100 steel pipework prior to welding.
-
Weld pipe joints and couplings at each 6m pipe length.
-
Complete welded tee fittings and branch connections serving the six buildings.
-
Carry out welding using the appropriate welding process in accordance with project requirements.
-
Work to the relevant welding procedures and specifications, including EN ISO 4063 where applicable.
-
Ensure pipework is correctly aligned, levelled and positioned prior to welding.
-
Inspect completed welds and joints to ensure they meet the required quality standards.
-
Work from drawings, specifications and method statements.
-
Coordinate with other site trades and site management to ensure the works progress efficiently.
-
Maintain a clean and safe working area.
-
Follow all site health & safety procedures, RAMS and permit requirements.
Additional Pipework Requirements
The project also involves working with associated pre-insulated pipework systems, including:
-
High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) to EN 253
-
Steel Pipes – Arc Welding or Gas Welding to EN ISO 4063 by Contractor
-
Rigid PUR Series 1 to EN 253
-
Heat Shrink HDPE with Hand-Poured PUR (Type NT)
Experience with these systems would be highly advantageous, particularly where the successful candidate is required to work on or around pre-insulated district heating pipework.
Essential Requirements
-
Proven experience as a Pipefitter / Welder.
-
Strong experience welding steel pipework.
-
Experience with DN100 steel pipework or similar.
-
Experience welding pipe couplings/joints and tee connections.
-
Ability to accurately measure, prepare, align and fit pipework prior to welding.
-
Experience working with arc welding and/or gas welding.
-
Understanding of EN ISO 4063 welding processes.
-
Ability to read and work from technical drawings and specifications.
-
Relevant welding qualifications/certifications.
-
CSCS or relevant site certification where required.
-
Strong understanding of construction site health & safety requirements.
-
Reliable, professional and able to work independently.
Desirable Experience
Experience within the following areas would be beneficial:
-
District heating systems.
-
Underground/external pipework.
-
Pre-insulated steel pipe systems.
-
EN 253 pipework systems.
-
HDPE jointing and heat-shrink systems.
-
Rigid PUR Series 1 insulation.
-
Hand-poured PUR Type NT.
-
Welding couplings and tee/branch connections.
-
Utility, mechanical or infrastructure projects.
