JOB ROLE: Quantity Surveyor
LOCATION: Maidstone, Kent
RATE: £50k - £60k + competitive package
START DATE: April 2026
About the Role:
RGM Recruitment Ltd is pleased to present an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join a well established civil engineering subcontractor based in Kent.
Our client delivers a wide range of groundworks and infrastructure packages, working alongside leading residential developers, main contractors and infrastructure providers across Kent and the Southern Home Counties. Projects typically include roads & sewers, drainage, foundations, earthworks and associated civil engineering works.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple civil engineering projects.
- Overseeing commercial aspects of live civil engineering and groundworks sites
- Managing procurement of subcontractors, materials and plant across various stages of the project lifecycle
- Reviewing and monitoring programmes of works to ensure commercial alignment
- Attending and contributing to progress meetings with clients, main contractors and site teams
- Leading pre-start and pre-contract meetings
- Preparing and analysing tender and subcontract documentation
- Managing valuations, variations and payment negotiations
- Producing and maintaining Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) on a monthly basis
- Implementing and maintaining strict cost control procedures and reporting on financial performance
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities across projects
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering or groundworks sector
- Strong understanding of infrastructure packages (roads, drainage, utilities, earthworks)
- Relevant qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) in Quantity Surveying or a construction-related discipline
- Experience working with residential developers or main contractors is advantageous
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and commercial awareness
